FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the difference between a forensic accountant and a CDFA?
A forensic accountant at Tabella serves as a fact finder and data collector, meticulously uncovering your financial situation through detailed investigations. Their role is focused solely on fact-finding, without engaging in financial planning. In contrast, a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA) offers strategic financial planning and analysis concerning the division of assets and the long-term financial implications of divorce settlements.

When should I consider hiring a forensic accountant or CDFA?
It’s beneficial to hire these professionals early in the divorce process, especially if there are complex assets, concerns about hidden income, or if one spouse is not transparent about financial matters.

What types of documents should I prepare before meeting with a forensic accountant or CDFA?
Common documents include tax returns, bank statements, investment accounts, property deeds, business financials, and any prenuptial agreements. Having these documents ready can streamline the process and enhance the analysis.

How long does the process typically take?
The timeline can vary based on the complexity of the financial situation, but initial assessments may take several weeks, while more detailed investigations could take longer.

What should I expect during the initial consultation?
During your initial consultation at Tabella, expect to discuss your financial situation and any concerns about assets or income. This is also an opportunity to explore the specific services we can provide, and we encourage you to ask questions about our approach and experience.

Will my financial information remain confidential?
At Tabella, we prioritize your privacy and trust. We adhere to strict confidentiality agreements and uphold the highest ethical standards, ensuring that your financial information is safeguarded throughout our engagement. You can be confident that your sensitive data will remain secure as we work together to uncover the financial clarity you deserve.

How Does Pricing Work?
Our pricing model operates on a retainer basis. Clients are required to pay the full retainer upfront, which covers all services to be performed within a specified time frame. If the scope of work extends beyond this time frame or additional services are requested, an hourly rate will be applied for the extra time and tasks. This ensures transparency and flexibility as we tailor our services to meet your evolving needs.

What happens if I need to terminate services?
Either party may terminate the agreement at any time by providing written notice. If the client terminates before completion, Tabella will provide all completed work to date. Fees for work completed up to the termination date are non-refundable, and any outstanding payments must be settled within 60 days of the termination invoice.
